Protector of the Heart

Writer's picture: The Untold StoryThe Untold Story

There's a fear that grips my heart,

When thoughts of love and romance start.

It's a feeling that I can't ignore,

A fear of what could lie in store.

Perhaps it's a fear of vulnerability,

Of opening up and showing my fragility.

Or maybe it's a fear of rejection,

Of being hurt and left with no protection.

I worry that I’ll lose myself,

In someone else's world, their wealth.

I fear that I won't be enough,

And that my love will be rebuffed.

But take a breath and calm my mind,

For love is worth the risk I'll find.

It's a chance to grow and learn,

And to feel my heart begin to yearn.

So I don't let fear hold my back,

From the love I want and the love I lack.

Take a chance and let my heart lead,

And I’ll find the love that I need.
